Mining in Colombia is an activity that is practically essential and deeply rooted in the country, since it is used to obtain a large amount of materials used in our daily lives. For example, practically any digital device, has material extracted and processed from the earthso it is indeed to be taken into account.

In the types of deposits we have in the country, we find extraction systems such as open pit mining and subway mining, the type of exploitation in small, medium and large industrial scale in terms of technology, geography and types of ecosystems to intervene and the environmental impacts arising from this economic activity. When we talk about open pit mining, we refer to a mining process that is simpler than subway mining and allows higher yields because very large and powerful machinery can be used. It is also less dangerous for the miners. The negative side of open pit mining is that it affects the environment more visibly if the necessary corrections are not made. However, once the coal has been extracted, the voids can be filled in, the landscape can be restored, and the land can even be improved.

This is the mining we approached when presented with this challenging project for another of Colombia's most relevant companies.

The challenge in this case was to provide more than the device, a software that would help their miners, to be able to enhance their productivity in the extraction of natural resources, while giving them full operability and autonomy in their respective work.

Our team of Tempel Group Engineering Colombia, managed to develop that connectivity between the device and software, betting on security through the new fully ruggedized tablet F110, which offers all the power and functionality of an office computer in a slim format that can be attached in vehicles. The 11.6-inch-plus display provides an excellent touchscreen and split-screen experience, while state-of-the-art connectivity enables a highly productive workday.

About Atex and IECEX certificates:

The ATEX Directive, which came into force and is applicable in the European Union, describes what type of equipment and environment is permitted for work in an explosive atmosphere. This regulation applies to all equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres, whether mechanical or electrical, including protective systems.

IECEx is a system that facilitates international trade in equipment and services for use in explosive environments. It is a globally mandatory standard to ensure that explosion-proof equipment and systems are safe for use in IECEx countries. IECEx has numerous conformity assessment systems.
